It's really tough to motivate yourself.
Or, maybe that isn't true at all for you... I'll speak for myself.
An owner wearing all the hats, the multi-faceted lives we all live with different jobs, roles, priorities... both in and out of business...
For me (and I don't think I'm alone here) motivating myself is hard.
So when an idea hits that makes it easier to feel some excitement, some drive, maybe even a bit of giddiness... I AM SO GRATEFUL for its arrival!
Allow me to share my latest idea... one I've been practicing for a few weeks now.
It's a game
I call it: My Personal Connect 4.
Now, I know there is a game called Connect 4 already.
And it's awesome!
I spent many a rainy day playing this vertical board game where you line-up-4-checkers-first-and-win and you play head-to-head with your opponent. Really fun.
But for my game of Connect 4, it's about making 4 personal connections per day.
(You may prefer to play Connect 2 or Connect 3... I dunno, what feels fun to you?)
There are about a hundred ways to play this one... all are fun, and all take a wee bit of time...
but not too much time... and no, it's not too hard either.
What counts as a "connect"?
What is "commenting with substance"?
It's a helpful or acknowledging comment that goes beyond Happy Birthday, Congratulations, or That sounds (x).
How do you win?
Just a couple of little things:
Better relationships, closer to top-of-mind regarding referrals, deepening friendships, potential partnerships, and collaborative projects.
Another point of winning? It feels fantastic!
Any feelings of guilt or "should" are gone in terms of maintaining connections and moving them forward.
Think about it... when you reach out and connect with 4 people a day (or however many you want to play) you are opening 4 different exponential doors!
All wins in my book.
Is there someone you might want to play this game with?
Forward this message to a friend and see if they'd be willing to take on the growth and relationship game of a personal version of Connect 4.
Sure, they can get on this list as well for daily enCOURAGEment... because growth takes guts.
Thinking of you...
