I played with Prezi.com and found it a fun and zoomy toy/tool for creating MultiMedia Resumes.  It's a web-based freemeium tool  - and a break from Power Point, which I don't have installed on my laptop.
The overall idea of Prezi is to collect and create your presentation on a white board: incorporating the usual tidbits of text and graphics...AND additional functionality includes embedding videos or audio files.
Stick Your Toe In
I highly recommend taking a peek at the samples they offer offer on their Explore tab. Putting together a resume or portfolio is sometimes an overwhelming task....I took a couple of minutes to familiarize myself with what might be possible and it helped with the inspiration level for me.
Sample Share
This sample (right) was created for a position as an Exec Asst to an Author of a self-help book. A cover letter, photo and resume were requested. Prezi allowed for more flexibility in working up the "cover letter" - which ended up being a couple of slides about the Vision - and what, in general terms, that might be. I had other Goals in as well, but edited most of them out to just give you an idea of the whole presentation.

I found this tool fun to learn - but had to really keep focused on the task at hand- or I'd have sunk a LOT more time into it than I actually had.

Social Media is all about sharing....Making meaningful connections with your audience, fellows, potential clients, current customers - all of us. This short article suggests a form of content that isn't a pitch....it's an offering of information...cloaked in a story. Your story.
Not Another Opportunity to Buy Something
Why? I don't know about you, but I feel inundated by "offers"...clamors, invitations, suggestions, demands even....and I get tired, saturated and check out if I feel like a business or artist just wants my money....it's a turn off.
And yes, there is a time and place for pitching a sale...may I suggest is not 100% of the time, offering or resources?
Why Are You Doing What You Are Doing?
Consider offering a 1-minute video slideshow or an audio file. In putting the video together (right) I answered the questions: How I got started and why I do this.
Pictures illustrate, soundbed moves things along and gives an intentional tone, and the text offers the barest skeleton of a story....it all comes together.

Give a Little Bit
Being a vendor and a customer of handmade sundries, I believe the following: If I like someone's work, I am also open and sometimes curious to know a bit more about the person, the process, the story....Consider giving some information, some background in an entertaining way. There's a connection to be made here.
And then, nurtured.
But nurturing a connection is a different story. there's a connection to be made here!

Take a peek and see what YOU think.

There aren't always words.

It's a pretty simple idea. I hired a graphic artist to create a logo for a project and we looked at a Pinterest Board I'd created specifically for "look and feel" of this project.

It was fun to put together - and got me thinking about the brand image I wanted to convey before I shared it with him.

Mind you, I did not create the board, share it, say "Good Luck and Go For It."

Nope. The board was just a conversation starter. I specified what drew me to an image. He asked specific questions.

Overall, it was a tight design with a short turnaround.

This method worked for me.
Might work for you too!

BTW - I'd LOVE to know if & how this DOES work for you and your designers....Bestest to you, w

Well, now I know. D'oh!
I am getting a coffee and channelling Oscar Goldman from the 70's show, The Bionic Woman: "I can rebuild her!"

It might not be the same - what you might remember - then again,
It might be better......
Goin' in~

    Welcome!

A Jill of selective trades, I'm always learning....
